Nomads & Expats Taxation

Taxes for remote workers, digital nomads, expats

This project was created so that a person who changes his country of residence (purposefully or forcedly) can quickly find answers on taxes and banking accounts matters that are relevant to his life situation.
The content is structured in such a way that everyone can find information relevant to their life situation. The site provides information that relates the current period, to the previous period, as well as planned changes (legislation changes quite often). Here you can get sufficient information on taxes for your situation (what tax, how much, when, and how to pay; how to report, in what form, in what way, and when to file).
As a result, we want the changes in tax liability and currency control caused by moving to another country to be as stress-free as possible so that you can focus on achieving the goals that inspired you to move.

How to search for tax information
For the convenience of searching the information relevant to a particular person, make the following steps
1
Choose the object of taxation relevant to you
Usually, this is your income or property. Some taxes depend on your tax residency, while others do not.
2
Determine your tax residency
If the tax liability depends on tax residency, then it is necessary to determine:
a) tax resident of which country you are (or whether you are not tax resident in any country);
b) whether tax liability arises in the country of your tax residence (and / or in the country - a source of income).
The criteria for tax residence vary from country to country.
3
Check out the information about tax implications and currency control restrictions
Read what tax should be paid, in which state, whether you or the tax agent must do it, and what declarations or other documents will be required. Does double taxation occur and can it be avoided.

Information about accounts abroad and currency control is here

Usually, taxation of incomes directly depends on tax residence, and a person can be recognized as a tax resident in several countries at the same time. The taxation of property or business under special tax regimes, usually, does not depend on the recognition of a person as a tax resident.

Below is a list of the most relevant objects of taxation. Tap the category you are interested in.

Choose the category of taxable objects that is relevant to you

Currency control

In many countries, there are currency restrictions regarding the opening and use of foreign accounts by foreign currency residents, as well as settlements with foreign currency residents. Here you will find information that allows you to determine whether you are (whether you will be, based on your future relocation plans) a currency resident and in which country. As well as information on reporting requirements if you have accounts abroad. What currency transactions are allowed and which ones are prohibited.
